On our way walking back home through our neighborhood today, my daughter and I decided to play another round of our turn-based storytelling game.
Taking turns sentence by sentence, here is the little fairy tale we came up with together:
The Three Little Pigs
Daughter: “Once upon a time, there were three little pigs named Scion, Celestia, and Mira.”
Me: “However, these three little pigs were not very friendly to each other. They were always bickering, arguing, and holding little grudges.”
Daughter: “Their mom and dad were very sad to see this. So, they told the little pigs that it was time for them to separate and build their own houses.”
Me: “Deep down, though, mom and dad really wanted them to learn how to care for each other and become good friends. So they came up with a clever plan.”
Daughter: “Mom and dad set a special rule: every day, each little pig had to do something kind to make the others happy.”
Me: “Whenever a pig did something kind, mom and dad would help build a part of their house. Happy with the plan, the three little pigs went to bed, looking forward to the next morning.”
Daughter: “The next morning, while the other two pigs were still fast asleep, Scion went out and bought two toy cars as surprise gifts for his siblings.”
Me: “The other two little pigs were thrilled when they received the toy cars! Seeing how thoughtful he was, mom and dad helped Scion build his four walls and roof.”

Daughter: “The next day, some friends came over to visit. Everyone had so much fun playing together that they almost forgot all about the house-building challenge. But Celestia remembered! She stepped up and helped her siblings build a beautiful sandcastle.”
Me: “Seeing how much effort and care Celestia put into helping with the sandcastle, the other two pigs were overjoyed. Mom and dad were touched by her kindness, so they helped build Celestia’s four walls and roof too.”

Daughter: “On the morning of the third day, the family threw a birthday party for Mira, complete with a huge birthday cake.”
Me: “Mira wanted her new house just as much as anyone, but to make her siblings happy, she gave the two biggest slices of cake to them. Seeing Mira’s generous heart, mom and dad immediately helped build her four walls and roof as well.”

Daughter: “When mom saw that all the houses were finished, she told them: ‘Alright, your new houses are all ready. You can move into your own places now!’ But the three little pigs thought about it for a moment and said: ‘We love playing together too much—we want to keep living in this house together!’”
Me (The Ending): “Mom and dad were so proud to see that their children had truly learned to love and care for each other. From that day on, the three little pigs stayed the closest of friends, living happily together every single day. The End.”
